I must admit I never use to eat my vegetables. To make matters even worse, I use to be addicted to caffeine (coffee and cola), ice cream, and junk food. I tried for years to eat healthier but with only temporary moments of success. But something amazing happened to me in 2008- my life shifted toward my betterment. I have been able to achieve something that I struggled with in the past with effortless ease. I eat more healthier than ever before and I continue to learn more each day.
What changed?
1. I've been without a drink of coffee for over 6 months (though I still miss a Starbucks mocha)
2. The taste of cola makes me sick (I no longer drink sodas)
3. I can't eat ice-cream (even though I still want to sometimes)
4. I don't have cravings for junk food
5. I can't go a day without eating fruits and vegetables (I crave it now)
6. I cook at home almost ever night (I use to order out a lot)
What happened?
I remember in 2007 I wrote two important affirmations- "I love and take care of myself" and "I am in perfect health." When I became pregnant in 2008 my body rejected many of the unhealthy foods I use to it. I was sick (unable to keep down food) for 8 months of my entire pregnancy. I realize now that I was going through a cleansing process. When I was finally able to eat my body needed a fresh start- I truly only could eat things like fruit, vegetables, high fiber foods, and Salmon (healthy source of fat/Omega 3). Today, I feel more aligned with the affirmations I set in 2007.
For me, I needed to go through the highs and lows of pregnancy before I could change. My baby girl was my cure to unhealthy eating habits and continues to give me the motivation I need.
Now my motivation is:
1. I want to breastfeed my daughter for her first year of life.
2. I want to give her healthy choices.
3. I want to model healthy eating habits.
4. I want to enjoy a long healthy life with my family.
My daughter gave me A GIFT OF HEALTH!
